This is what we do, but we use Rip-Stop nylon rather than a tarp as it is much lighter and the rear lid stays open o nits own (we have net struts). We use bungy cord hooked to the rear hinges of the pop-top to hold the rip-stop nylon curtain around atop the rear lid, and another curtain snapped into the rear mosqueto net snaps to stop splashes from enter the rear of the van.
