It doesn't matter what type of energy we are
talking about. All energy is expensive.
If we switch to another form, that will become
expensive.
Diesel here already costs more than premium gas
in Seattle.
Biodiesel will be taxed, raising it above the
price of Diesel ,and growing crops to produce the
vegetable oil costs more to produce than
petroleum.
Any fuel that becomes popular ends up with a high
demand.
Why are'nt the Asians in Kyoto and elsewhere
running on rice-ohol?
Diesel engines are noisy and smelly.
My neighbors would scorn me if I ran one here.
When a Diesel pick-up goes up the street , it
sounds like a fire-truck.
I don't like the noise either. I would switch to
alcohol fuel like they have in the midwest,
called E-85, 100 octane, more clean burning than
diesel or SVO, and you can run it in your Accord
without having to sign one.
Then we all don't have to rip out our gas engines
for Diesel replacements.
The local utility used to sell only electricity
locally when it was first created. Cheap
Northwest power.
Now it's on sale to the highest bidder, thru the
grid, to California.
Fuel is the same way- where more consumers are,
more demand, and a higher percentage of people
who can afford higher prices.
(I saw a Flex-fuel Honda Civic on the freeway the
other day)

If we someday run on corn fuel, do we call it
Cornfalia, or Westcornia?
