Just a post for the archives I was picking up a gasket seal kit today & the OEM part shop I use suggested a product from WURT 'Rubber care' http://www.superiorcarcare.net/w890110.html to lube up the plastic vent insert & the filler pipe

They also suggested to use a PERMATEX HYLOMAR HPF Gasket http://www.permatex.com/heavy_duty/Chassis.asp?automotive=yes&f_call=get_ite m&item_no=25249 to seal the gromets/filler gasket
