That's what Detroit thought back in '73, even after the first gas 'crisis'. It wasn't until they saw all those Honda's & Toyota's out there that they realized something might have changed. FWIW in '73 I was sitting in those gas lines (on an even or odd rationing day) in a '59 VW bus with the mighty 36hp engine.
