Subject:      Best placement for outside air temperature sender?

I am in the process of installing a outside air temperature sender on my
Westfalia.  The digital gauge requires a simple K or J type thermocouple for
input.  Where is the best place to mount it to get the most accurate
temperature in both town and highway driving?  I want to avoid places like
the grille as there is the possibility of a super cooling effect if it is
wet and wind is blowing on it.  I also want to avoid any heat sources like
the radiator and such too.  I was thinking maybe in the forward section of
the rear intake tunnel for the engine air...
