Mellow Yellow is about to be bedded down for the non-camping season. He has two batteries, a Optima yellow top deep cycle house battery under the capt'n's chair, and the normal off-the-shelf starting-type under Mrs Squirrel's throne. They disconnect when not driving, so during the off-season I will hook up a couple of trickle chargers. I know that deep-cycle and normal types have different trickle charge requirements. For example, it's a good idea to apply equalizing pulses periodically to the starting battery, but the deep-cycle wants none of that. Also, the deep-cycle would probably be happier with a higher float voltage than the starting battery. So. Seeking: recomendations for suitable trickle charger, settable according to battery type. -- Hoping the spirit of John Wallace is with you, I remain Mike "Rocket J Squirrel" Elliott 71 Type 2: the Wonderbus 84 Westfalia: Mellow Yellow ("The Electrical Banana") KG6RCR |
