Volks, FYI A couple of weeks ago I began having pretty significant clutch shudder in reverse. A couple of days ago I began having difficulty shifting into first gear. Last weekend I crawled under the van to check the gear oil level. Noticed a 1/8" gap between clutch housing and engine block at the bottom. One of the 2 bottom studs had sheared off, the other bottom stud/nut was very loose and the top two bolts were slightly loose. Tighten up the three remaining, pulled things back together. Clutch shudder gone and shifting is back to normal. Next week I'll deal with replacing the broken stud.
