I doubt that you'd be buying any time. If you have low oil pressure, a new oil pump--that might work a few percent more efficiently than your old one--is not going to raise pressure where the issue is worn main, rod and camshaft journal bearings. You could probably add another oil pump if it were mechanically possible and still not raise the pressure much. And if your oil pump is in that poor a state, you can imagine what the rest of the engine is like.
