The 1.9 I hear, treats connecting rods very well. The 2.1 is supposed to
twist them up(must be all that brute power.....zoom-zoom). I see where this
advertiser has lumped these engines' components together for this issue.On
a low priced wbx, I would be concerned with the reuse of the cylinder heads
(gasket area corrosion),and head studs(once again, corrosion-see archives
about this).If a 1.9, I would trade the new con rods for new head studs and
new cyl heads.The wbx will last longer than most people expect.I think
people give up on it too soon.I just see lots of early replacements in the
list and elsewhere.My last trip of 275 miles on flat ground got me 22.5mpg
in a 85 westy.Ya got to promise me 32.5  to plunk down all that money.
