I don't agree with any of the "Recommendations" you listed.

I've had an '84 since '91 and an '85 since '02 and I've never
experienced any of the problems your friend cited as peculiar to the 1.9
wasserboxers.  He, no doubt, had a machine that was greatly in need of
original type replacement parts and TLC.
