Subject: Advice on possible engine replacement

The mechanic who did my conversion is helping another guy who wants to put a 1.8/2.0 jetta engine into his van. He wanted my extra diesel Vanagon pieces. We starting talking of what it would take to "git 'er done". It seems a good plan for someone who wanted a cheap, reliable, easy conversion and simple "all VW" solution. I heard some people boasting of 20/22 MPG with their inline-4 cylinder VW engine conversion. I did consider it, but opted for the 29MPG turbo diesel with the VW factory eco-diesel fuel pump. I have yet to see what my MPG is with my new taller 3rd and 4th gears! Thanks to Daryl at AA Transmission for a great tranny rebuild and great customer service at a reasonable price.
