I was just looking at this bus for sale with it's 6 cyl Subaru engine. Makes you kind of need one. Although I'm not going for it any time soon.

How common is the 6 cyl conversion? I assume not very, since this is the first I've seen, but maybe...

I see Marty Schnieders' Porsche 6 cyl. Syncro around town (LA,CA) here, and I've seen a couple more. (He used to sell the MSDS Porsche 6 conversion out of his Glendale shop which I think he discontinued.(?))

But never the Subaru 6. One guy here has Pontiac 6 in his syncro. (I think he's on the one of the Syncro lists.) The engine just about fits with some modification/cutting of the rear panel below the liftgate.

Anyway just curious about the subaru 6 and how easy/difficult the conversion/fit is.

I was thinking when the national speed limit was 55 MPH the Vanagon really wasn't a bad deal with it's stock engine. I mean my bus cruises fine at 55. When did the national limit of 55MPH end? And can we bring it back until I have the money for a conversion?

Best, Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA
