Chris,

Since the BA-6 is designed to run from the switch which is part of the thermostat, you could splice a harnness into the swtich wires and run the wires back to an identical timer switch (which I have a box full of) and run off a rear and reachable second timer switch.

True, the timer switch only runs the heater 10 more or less minutes. It ws designed this way, since it has a high energy demand of about 100 watts /10 amps. Unless you have deep cycle batteries, you'll run the battery dead within an hour or two.

So, it's safe to use, as long as you aren't parked over dry grass or leaves, but to run it all night is loud and will used a gallon of gas overnight.

A propane catalytic or forced air is more practical and economical. Gas heaters run best when the engine is running, producing over 13 volts, and the BA -6 was designed for comfort heat while driving, and not parked long periods of time. One manual advises not more than two activations with the timer switch or more than 20 minutes heater operation while the engine is not running.
