I had a 66 Splittie with a very good 1776 engine, five rub tranny, open drive axles (reduction boxes removed). It was really great little errand runner around town at speeds below 60 but on a highway it was a real trip just keeping it on the road in light crosswinds. For short trips the little splitties are a hoot but you really need to be young at heart or courageous to travel any great distance in one. Not because of dependability but they're just a task to drive at highway speeds.
