Hi TC, I've never heard of a front heater core developing a leak. The rear core is another story, though. The blower motor on my '84 works fine and the one on my '85 should last through another winter. When I replace that motor, I'll regasket the flaps on the heater box but I'll leave the existing core in there. You can extend the life of the blower motor by remembering to turn off the fan once you're up to speed. The incoming fresh air is such that you won't even notice that the fan is off.
