at least on surface streets and highways, passing is really pointless. drivers just need to learn to relax. That being said, driving slow in the left lane is more obstinate than useful.

I've forgotten whether it's Holland or Denmark that has actually banned trucks from passing on limited access highways. They must stay in the right lane regardless of speed. The studies have shown that the "shock wave" that trucks cause by attempting to pass each other actually just slows everyone down. Truck traffic now moves as fast, or faster than it did before the regulation took effect. Speed is just testosterone converted to excess and unnecessary air pollution.
