Names and words are interesting.

I met a girl once whose name was Xan (pronouced Zan)

The Yupik Eskimos of Alaska have a word of greeeting "Camai", pronounced
"sha my".

They in turn use a word "gussuk" as applied to a white man. I think it a
bastardization of the word "Cossack" - a carryover from the historical
Russian influence on the Alaska Native people.
