Subject: 87 Vanagon Syndrome
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I am having problem with my 1987 Vanagon. We had searched the archives for fixes on the Syndrome but still having erratic problems. Van will idle fine when first fired up then the rpm's will drop and raise and then finally cut off. Also when driving the van it will "buck" loose power and until you mash the gas to the floor it will continue to operate poorly. We purchased the very expensive harness jumper from VW hoping that it would fix the problem . After installing we are still having the same issues and the RPM's tend to hunt up and down even more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
