I'd try to get them down on the price a little more. Here are links to two '85 Westfalias that ended recently on eBay. The first is not too far from me, and went for only $2,300, but it has some rust. The second in a west coast vehicle with an older rebuilt engine, which went for $5,500. Maybe you can use these two as negotiating points.

I got my Westfalia, just about like the one your looking for, for about $5,200. It was a little more than I thought it was worth, but there are not very many around here in CT, and it was worth it to me to see the vehicle in person and know what I was getting, rather than try to buy one at a distance and trust someone else's inspection or just judging it by photographs.

It it's a vehicle you really want, and there are hard to find in your area, I'd persue this if you or a competent mechanic can check it out. I'd try to get it for closer to $5,000 than $6,000.
