these vehicles are coming up on 20 years old now..   not exactly easy to get
20 years of past reciepts and maintenance records..
vehicles change many owners over a period of 20 yrs..  people dont save
everything.
 id say if you are concerned about the condition, have the vehicle thorougly
looked over by a VW specific shop, prior to purchase.   a 5 inch stack of
repair reciepts from day one is fun to look thru, but lack thereof wouldnt
dissuade me from buying a vehicle if it was in good condition.
