IMHO, here in a nutshell, is the problem. Those who are scientifically inclined will say "you know, we just don't know a whole lot about it, it seems like there is a trend here, and maybe we should be cautious----"

Those who are not scientifically inclined (those who are inclined to build a strip mall) will say "God damn it, I know that there is no concern here and these people who want to stop this strip mall are just a bunch of alarmists".

Now, given the choice of believing someone who knows, versus someone who doesn't, who are you going to put in your lot with.
