Subject: Re: Bus Depot auxillary battery hook up kit #1738-cant figure it
              out

I got the auxillary battery installed, without explosion.Hope it works ok.The hardest part was accepting the premise that 2 skinny wires are the hook ups that are to be screwed to the top of each terminal. The only interesting part in installing this kit was when I undid the existing relay that vw installed. It had 5 hook ups , where the new relay had 4.Not hard to figure out what to do.In fact , this conversion is so easy to do , I had to make it more difficult than it was. I ended up using only 2 of the 4 wires provided. The screw that came with the kit , to screw into the battery post ,makes the post overall, too tall, and the lid may make contact withthe post (zap!). I used hose clamps to hold the wires onto the battery posts instead. This project was an opportunity to remove both seats and hose them down. While I was at it , I hosed down the 2 batterys. In the end, if you have a westy , and want a auxillery battery, all you need is a battery (one without a vent), an 8 inch wire to go from the existing relay to the positive battery post (contact 87 on the relay I think),2 hose clamps, and a thin wire for the ground on the new battery.Just run 1 new wire on the 87 contact to the battery, and from the positive post of the battery, run 2 wires to the westy fuse box. That is a total of 3 wires held onto the post with a hose clamp. That is it! Your done!
