The OEM hub caps were poor quality plastic that began to crack in 1986 (That's my experience on my '84 westy). Because the plastic retainer features began cracking, and continued to crack, I removed them and stored them for another 6 years. They continued to deteriorate in storage (probably due to moisture in the thermal plastic at time of injection molding). So I tossed them in '91. Look for some steel chrome plated baby moons (unless your preping it for Pebble Beach next August) jb

I went through this drill several months ago. My 84 has mis-matched, cheap-looking silver-gray plastic hubcaps. Turns out that they are stock. Three out of four, anyway.
