I don't engrave my tools, I put lip prints on them with pink lipstick.

The thought of marking tools reminds me of a pipefitter I once worked with. Whenever he was issued a new folding Lufkin from the tool room, the fist thing did was to open it up and snap it off at the 54 inch mark. His reasoning was that if he needed a measurement longer than that he'd use a tape and, more importantly, it would take a real idiot to steal his new rule once he customized it.
