I just picked up a thermostat from the Bus Depot and was checking it out.

I have an 81 aircooled gas vanagon that im looking to install this onto.

The busdpot (and other websites) indicate that you can do this with minor mods.

On the BD website, it says you just take the end cap off and feed the wire through.

On one end of my thermostat there is a little screw-on type connector that sticks out the end. I unscrewed this, only to find solid metal inside of the housing, so the wire still cannot be fed through.

any websites out there showing how to dismantle one of these things properly to use on a type4 motor?

thanks!

chris
