You can laminate thin plywood to the back of 1/4" high quality solid wood
and have light weight and beauty.
I remember seeing a Westfalia in a Public TV documentary that was outfitted
by Bentley and the interior cabinetry and dash were a true thing of beauty.
I loved the solid silver door and drawer pulls and the gold plated sink.
That might be a documentary worth searching out because it was almost all
about the Westfalia and VW bus phenomenon in Europe.
It showed an Ariel photo of the beaches art Gibraltar and the VW Busses were
wall to wall, probably a few thousand of them.
If you're a Kraut and you want to go to the beach I think Gibraltar is the
closest spring break location.
