just make some brackets out of 1/8 plate steel and it will hold the housing up. and use devcon plastic welder epoxy to repair the cracks.

Don't forget to stop drill the cracks. This means drilling a small (1/8" for this job) hole at the end of each crack. The cracks will get longer if you don't. The reason has to do with the concentrated force on the end of the present crack. When you drill a hole, it spreads the force out, and the crack will not progress. Usually. It worked on on the balloon fenders of '32 Fords and the like...
