'87 vanagon with '89 syncro engine, manual trans has recurring problem with loud tinny clicking sound from left side of engine. I thought the problem was a stuck lifter, but was told that it was a faulty oil pump because a stuck lifter would make noise anytime the engine was running and my noise goes away, usually after going up a hill. The PO replaced the oil pump with a rebuilt one which is a bit leaky. Thought I'd ask before any serious troubleshooting. Also, how do I  get the listserv DIGEST feature?
