The mechanic put a gremlin in your Van. This quite often happens when you repair only one of the twenty active problems attempting to fully surface. Get a copy of the Bentley manual ( http://lmservices.free.fr/temp/transporter/manuel.pdf ) and explore the solutions on your own. If they're still above your head print the manual pages out for your mechanic and give them to him. Stan Wilder Engine Ceramics 214-352-4931 www.engineceramics.com

I had a mechanic replace my oil seals and clutch on my '87 with stock 2.1, and seem to have more problems now than before. Here is what is happening: Before the repairs, I had an intermittent high idle, and that was about it. Now, it has more problems at start-up, regardless if the engine is hot or cold. When first started up, it often stalls and has to be restarted a few times. Sometimes hitting the accelerator a few times helps to keep it running helps, and sometimes that just makes it stall. Eventually, it will run, at high idle. Whether I let it run or drive it for an hour, if it is shut off, it has the same problem at start-up. A short time after getting it back, it also now has the oil pressre light come on. If I rev up the engine, it goes out. What could be going on here? Ed in CT |
