Cary, Auto transaxle complete: ~200 lbs. (225 lbs in a crate). Sitting is the worst thing for an auto tranny. Lots of seals and rubber type parts that get hard and crack. Be careful. Cheers, Jeff www.vanagonparts.com

Hi Folks: I need the following info, and informed opinion. (1)What is the approximate shipping weight of a Vanagon automatic transmission, with final drive assembly? (2)If such a transmission was in good working order, and was stored away in a garage for four years , is it more likely that: (A) it would still be in good working order when installed in a van, after a fluid/filter change, or (B) it would more than likely NOT be functional, and would need a rebuild due to sticky valves, hard seals, etc.? As always, thanks in advance! Cary |
