Points out something that I've thought many, many times: The best place in
the world to sell a vanagon is this listserv; the worst place in the world
to buy a vanagon is this listserv. Anyone who would pay $31,000 for a 20
year old vehicle is a moron.

Subject: Selling my beautiful Syncro Westfalia
Fellow listers,
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my one-of-a-kind 1987
Syncro Westfalia with an expertly retrofitted Adventurewagen top. Figured I'd
put the notice up on the lists before I hit thesamba and epages.
When you see the below webpage, and the work that's gone into this van,
you'll see why my price is $31,000 firm -- and hopefully that my price is
more than
reasonable. I'm selling the van in partnership with Joe Schoeningh at Europro
in Costa Mesa, CA. Joe did most of the remarkably extensive remodeling and
restoration. In the summer of 2004, "Pound Puppy", as former owner Veronica
Fraga called this Syncro, carried me and my wife across America on
assignment for
the New York Times -- the trip represented, perhaps the best two months of our
lives together. That is, until the recent birth of our daughter.
If any of my closer associates on these lists - people who have saved my ass,
or provided particularly lifesaving advice want to call first dibs, then
please send me an offlist email.
Owning a Syncro has been one hell of a cool experience -- and I'd like thank
everyone who has helped to make driving one of the great unsung vehicles on
the planet such a fascinating and rewarding experience.
Please check the below link and forward to anyone you think might be
interested.

If you are interested, please contact Joe at Europro before me:

Thanks and please forgive the cross-posting.
Now I think I'm going to go sit in my driver's seat and have a good sob.
Chris Dixon!
