When I left the '87 Wolfsburg to have work done, I gave the mechanic a Mann filter to install. When I picked up the van, he had not installed it, using one of his own instead, saying that mine was for a Rabbit, not a Vanagon, and that he had looked up by part number. Weren't all gas engine filters the same for VWs, with the exception of the Corrado? My filter is a Mann W719/5. It has a 205 under the Made in Germany sign, and a barcode which reads 4011558703899.
