Subject: Poptop cleaning & new canvas
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed

Hello all. If you are interested in seeing before and after pictures of cleaning mildew out of the poptop fuzz, see http://mycommunitynet.net/gallery/canvas?page=2

It had a lot of mildew on it, and we scrubbed it with a 1 to 10 bleach and detergent solution and then hosed it off. It came out really well and was even dry within 2 hours.

I do have a question: For those of you who have replaced your canvas, how easily did the new one go on? My van is an '85. I took the old canvas off because it had some holes, smelled and was really dirty. I got a new one and it looks great, but it did not seem to fit. Yes, we made sure that it was faced the correct way (window zipper inside with rounded window top closest to poptop). There were pre-drilled holes that matched up with the screw locations in the top, but it appeared to be about 3-4 inches short on both sides. We tried ignoring the holes and stretching it tighter, but it wasn't nearly stretchy enough to make up for the shortness.

I am wondering if I got a VW bus canvas instead. Can anyone else p- mail me how easily their canvas top went on? With the poptop up, it's really airy at home now that I don't have a canvas anymore! Very inconvenient...my visiting friends now don't have a place to stay for the football weekend.

Thanks! Aaron
