Look for vacuum leaks or maybe even a bad injector. The O2 sensor may be compensating after it warms up. I just had this experience. Turned out to be pin holes in the intake manifold.

In my recent posts, I've mentioned some serious idling problems. They are really more than that, as until the van is hot, it has no power. I haven't gone through the Bentley troubleshooting procedures yes, but I am wondering something as I get ready to troubleshoot.

Something doesn't make sense to me: I can understand why if there were a problem with, say, a temperature sensor or the idle control valve, that I might have idling problems when cold. In fact, it runs ok after it has gotten hot. But- and here's what doesn't make sense, if I shut off the engine, and start it up again, I have the same problem, with a hot engine, until it runs another five minutes or so.

This makes me wonder if there is some sequence the computer wants to go through that's not working out. It doesn't make any difference if the engine is hot or cold, it doesn't idle right for several minutes after startup.

Thanks for any advice, Ed in CT
