Subject: dome light door pin switch-discovery

While tracing a dead battery issue with my 1989 WE jetta I discovered a very handy item for my camper.

I'm tired of having to turn off al the interior lights while camped.. only to forget and have a dark van while fumbling for my keys a few nights afterwards.

on the Jetta the trunk light pin switch has a NOTCH or GROOVE cut into it that allows it to be set in the "off" position

it's a STD vw sized door pin, with 2 wires GND from light and GND to body. on the jetta it doesn't rely on the hinges for a GND connection.

so now i can just press the switch in tot he notch and it'll stay OFF while the door is open.. while the front doors will remain the same function

I'm not sure if this is a feature on all trunk switches, i'll check the 98 jetta @ mom's later.

I tried to take a photo of the groove in the pin switch but the digi camera wouldn't focus that close.
