Thanks to all of you who offered so much info and help from all over the world! The Vanagon list and Syncro list are both great online (and off-line) communities of Vanagon junkies, it's amazing. Glad to be a part of it and hope to reciprocate in some way one day.

Since my initial post yesterday, I have eliminated a few more possibilities:

ECU- swapped with a working one, no change AFM- swapped " " " " , no change Distributer/Hall sensor/rotor- swapped, no change Fuel pressure regulator- tested with gauge and passed all 3 tests in Bentley manual Temp sensor- replaced with new, no change Manifold/vacuum lines- tested with LP for leaks, no change All electrical grounds and connections I could check were clean, dry and corrosion-free (this van has never seen salt roads or much in the way of nasty conditions, it's a California van).

Yet to check:

Idle stabilizer (reads 118ma at all rpms. Bentley says 430 = 20ma. What is that supposed to mean, 430 to 20ma range?) Idle Stabilizer control unit (contacts are fine) Throttle valve switch adjustment- I need to get a very thin feeler gauge Fuel pump relay Current supply relay Injectors?

On we go... any bets on which components or combo of components? Come on, lets get some wagering on this! I will put a dollar on the idle stabilizer as the culprit. What do you say?
