The arrangement of the wiring on the 14-point instrument cluster is different between model years and some US/Canadian models.

If you have the Bentley Manual, and know the model year for the new cluster you have, you could compare the wiring schematics.

It also may be that the LED in the new cluster's temp gauge is burnt out. Maybe you could swap temp gauges with the one from your old cluster. Does the temp gauge needle in the new cluster work correctly?
