The command & delete keys make this easy to deal with.

It's easy to select and paste bits of several messages into one, then
save and store. I do this with my replies... instead of 2-10 separate
messages answering the same thread, I reply, select & cut, close
reply without saving, paste into existing reply to send, then go on
to the next in message on the thread...
