One idea I had: some folks may not feel up to writing a whole big letter to VW, or be able to express things in the best way. Maybe a few folks would like to share what they've written, then folks could use their words to send to VW. More response by more and more folks to the actions of VW might result in swaying their super-aggressive policy somewhat. And please, forward this to as many other VW-related groups as possible, I for one feel it's time to make VW squirm.
