Ter's right about this one, volks..err..i mean folks. Hitler Named it the KdF Wagen and it was called that up thru the end of WW2..around '45 ish when the Bristish took over the factory and got wolfsburg back on its feet and started production again...naming it V*lkswagen :<)

BTW, Henry Ford was offered a chance to take over the factory at that point.. but he said "what they have there isnt worth a damn" (exact words) and the rest is history..
