<<BTW, Henry Ford was offered a chance to take over the factory at that point.. but he said "what they have there isnt worth a damn"  (exact words)    and the rest is history..>>

And to elaborate o Ole HF and VW a bit more.

Ole Ferdinand after designing and build the first couple of KDF's, took a trip over here to Dearborn to find out what ole Henry was up to.

He was amazed the the production line, and the happy worker's that produced the Fords. The housing, and company store's that were right close at hand surrounding the factory.

Ford lent Ferdinand 23 engineer's, that went back to Deutschland and gave Porsche a hand in setting up and designing a production line, plant and surrounding housing.

It all neverall got rolling due to the war, as far as the cars go.

They produced wood shipping boxes for supplies being shipped to North Africa, kitchen field stoves, Kuebblewagens, and Schwimmerwagens.

Chris is correct in pointing out the first assembly line, mass production, VW's as we know them didn't start till the end of the war, when the Brits took the Wolfdburg plant over, and rebuilt the bombed out plant.

End of History Lesson for today.

PS For those of you that enjoy history, check out your local listings on the History Channel for "Hitler's Manager's"

Real interesting stuff on Werner Von Braun, Jodl, Albert Spear, and Porsche.

Information, and film I have never seen reported on before.

I saw all this last Sunday ( 4 Hours worth)---it should be on again soon.
