Subject: Optima Batteries - Red Yellow or Blue?

With all this talk about batteries lately, I am gearing up for the massive upgrade on my camper. One of which is moving the batteries from under the front seats to under the rear seat. I really do not like the method of mounting the Group 34 battery under the front seats on their sides as it is quite the rigging process to get them to stay put in case of an accident - they're really note designed to be there. Also, under the rear seat for me will give me a shorter run to the starter for the TDI engine we are about to install so we will have improved cranking power which the red Optima is great for.

My question for the day is the colors of the batteries:

I currently am using a red-top on my TriStar for the starting battery - this is their design intention.

I am at the understanding that yellow is deep cycle designed to be discharged on a repeated basis, but I am wondering about the blue top batteries. These almost appear to be a mix of a starting battery and deep cycle - is this true?

What I am looking for is a battery that will act as a reserve battery, but will also have a 8000lb winch attached to it that will draw considerable current from it. To me, this appears to the blue marine battery... am I correct?
