I drive my Westy to the truck mechanic. I have him loosen the nuts. I drive the van back home with the nuts semi tight. I perform my required tasks and drive the van back to the truck mechanic. He torques the nuts and I pay him. That's the no hernia method. Every other way can cause you internal damages.

I'm reading on the Van-Cafe website that it takes 256 ft. lbs. to torque the nut on the front outer CV joint. How do most people do this? Rent a humongous torque wrench or guestimate with body weight and flex bar or ????
