I was reading a trade rag at work and it had an article on counterfit branded items showing up in channels again.

In it also had a short blurb on web stuff. Seems ford has filed almost 120 suits in the last 5 years, GM over 100, etc..Porsche hit a note because it filed the most. Porsche filed 130 in one bulk shot in the US and followed up with over 250 others individually. Seems the 130 shot was aimed at "squatters" and "redirecters". They now own all 130 domains. Porsche went after almost 150 in other countries, primarily in europe.

BTW VW owns the trade term "bug" when it is used to describe a vehicle formerly or currently designed and produced by Volkswagen AG.

Another section said that VW, Porsche, and Mercedes are currently back on the offensive again because some groups in the US tried to get generic status assigned to some of their trademarks. This has probably set off the current assaults seen. The note was that sites were making "gain" from their trademarks. jimt
