  VW filed for and was awarded trademark protection for "bug" when
associated with a vehicle formerly designed and produced or currently
designed and produced by VW AG.  This was done before the new "bug" hit the
road.  In that same petition they were awarded status to over 100
trademarks.  They filed that same petition in Germany and England.
