My next move will be to go to the 1.8T, the source for these is kinda hard to come by?

Thanks, Joe

Bob, The VR6 in the Syncro has been done but I strongly recommend against it.

No matter what angle you mount it at, you will have to do something to your engine cover as these are taller and water than the I4 engines.

Also, with the Syncro, you will have the fuel tank in the way which means relocating the tank or building a custom water plenum and coil pack assembly.

These engines are HEAVY and thirsty. If you want the VR6 for the good bottom end torque, then a TDI is the answer. If you hate Diesel then a 1.8T or a Subaru engine is the answer.

Hi y'all, I've done an archive search (nada); I've found the Michael von Hoegen swap at Tom's pages, and that doesn't have any detail information and no links to ask questions. (http://volksweb.relitech.com/helmut/VR6-engine/vr6-engi.htm)

So I'm asking here:

I've got a '96 Passat VR6 in good shape as my daily driver. Thinking of putting that motor into my van in a couple years, after I retire. Anyone here have any detailed info. or resources/links I might get some guidance from. Going into my Syncro Camper so I do not want to mod. the rear interior deck nor do I want to mess much with exterior clearance, if possible. Any feedback appreciated.
