You can access all the wiring that goes into the door under the fusebox, however, when I had an alarm/keyless entry system installed in an 87 we couldn't get it to work with the VW central locking actuator. The VW actuator doesn't work like typical cars. If anyone has gotten keyless entry to work with Vanagon power locks without opening the drivers door, please share your tricks. I had to install an aftermarket actuator into the drivers door to move the VW mechanism. This required a couple wires going from the acutaor inside the drivers door to the alarm brain under the dash. (Aftermarket actuators are available from any auto stereo shop or ebay). >Okay, I'd like to add a keyless remote/alarm and maybe >starter feature to my '91 Westy and want to know if >the wiring needs to be run through the doors or can it all be done up front under the dash? |
