Jim and assorted Volks, Excellent! I, too, consider my Vanagon to be a half-ton vehicle. Some recent loads come to mind (not all in one trip!): Hydraulic auger on a pallet, 55 gallon drum of kerosene, 10 concrete pier blocks (estimated 70 lbs. each), plus the usual groceries, etc., 13 bales of hay (could've put in about four more if I'd taken out the front passenger seat), Several full sheets of plywood, lots of 10' lengths of pipe - - really, anything I can cram in safely (my safety standards may pre-date OSHA) :-) And if it won't fit inside, just a couple of weeks ago I finished building a roof rack and carried a bunch of 16-foot 2 x 6's on top! All that, and the world's best (IMHO) camper, too! Legal disclaimer: Don't try this at home!
