It takes a special kind of car to maintain its place in society's collective memory. As society ages though, so does the collective memory. Look at the place the lowly VW bug has, it will likely always be around. Now compare that to a same year Ford Falcoln. I believe the beloved VW bus will be around for just as long and for the same reasons, but the Vanagons don't have that history/appeal so probably not. Cars like the British sports cars will always be around because of their relative rarity and classic status. Same with the classic British, Italian, German bikes. But the Asian superbikes of the early 70's, with few exceptions, are thrown into the junk piles with regularity despite their technical merit and superiority. Best Regards Howard Allen S.
