in the very old old days, way before VANAGONS, back when vw buses were split-windows, we used to go along the beach roads and pick up the discarded beer bottles and turn 'em in to the grocery stores for like $0.02 each. made us money to buy more beer! :) course, we don't do that anymore, cause (a) they put out aluminum cans nowadays, and (b) i drive a Vanagon, and don't want to lose it to a DUI ticket. :)

but i recall Jax beer as one of the more common bottles to find, possibly it was the cheapest. this was back in the late 1940's and early 1950's, along the NW florida coasts around Panama City Beach and westward. also Falstaff. don't see that anymore. how about Pabst Blue Ribbon? that was a big seller back then. used to sponser some of the friday night boxing shows on television. and Carling's Black Label ... another big seller.

for those beer drinkers amongst you, who want to decorate their VANAGON (or EUROVAN or whatever), you might want some old beer label trays ...those round little trays the looked-good-in-the-dim-light waitresses used to bring the beer to your table on. there's actually a place that sells those trays ... (drum roll) ... http://home1.gte.net/tjhoff/btfs.html

wonder if we could get some small home-brewery to produce labels for Vanagon Bier?? :) or maybe Westfalia Bier ... might be some legal problems there since there is a huge dairy machinery company by that name.
